The ultimate team sport

If you’re a competitive athlete willing to give it up for your team and perform better than you ever could alone, look no further than ERC. We participate in 9 races against whaleboat teams every year.

Over the years, we’ve successfully fielded winning teams in all three divisions – Men’s, Women’s and Coed. Since the club’s formation in the 1980’s, ERC’s women’s team has been overall champion over a dozen times. The men have followed, always a force to be reckoned with. In 2025, women's team took first in both the Spring and Fall seasons; the mixed team took third in the Spring.

All rowing events are weather permitting; we do not go practice if it is raining or race in unsafe conditions. We typically expect athletes to attend 2-3 practices a week, to field the most competitive team we can.

Joining the racing team

There are two racing seasons a year: Spring and Fall. Practice for the Spring season begins in mid-February and the season ends mid-June; practice for the fall begins in Mid-August and ends in late October.

Race practices (and races) tend to be more challenging, with an array of courses from sprints to 40-minute endurance marathons. Race team members must be a member of the club and able to perform and commit to the level set by that year's boat. Remember: there is no stopping during a race!
